How we check prices
How we check prices
Last updated 7 November 2026
Every price on DutiDeals comes from an airport duty-free shop's own website. We read those sites on a schedule, at 52 airports in 21 countries, and show you when we last looked. Right now, 50 of 52 airports were checked in the past 7 days.
What we read
For each listing we record the price, currency, size and stock, plus any was-price or offer the shop shows. We don't adjust the price or add anything to it. A was-price is the shop's own claim, and we can't tell you if it was ever charged.
How often we check
It depends on the shop and the category. The fastest cycle is every 6 hours and most shops are weekly. A check can run late when a shop's site is down or won't load for us, so these are the current numbers:
| Latest check | Airports |
|---|---|
| Past 24 hours | 26 |
| 1 to 3 days ago | 13 |
| 3 to 7 days ago | 11 |
| Over 7 days ago | 2 |
Each airport page shows when every price on it was last checked, and warns you if all of them are overdue.
What the labels mean
- Confirmed: in stock at our last check, within the past 8 days.
- Estimated: an older check, or a shop that doesn't show stock online.
Currencies
Prices appear in the shop's own currency, with an approximate US dollar figure from that day's rate at open.er-api.com. The dollar figure is our calculation, and what your card charges will differ.
How we match products
Shops name the same product in different ways. Software groups listings by details such as brand, name and size, and we review hard cases by hand. Each product gets one page, listing its sizes and the airports that stock it. This can go wrong in both directions: two products merged, or one product split in two. If you spot one, tell us.
What our checks can't tell you
- The price at the counter. We read online shops, and an airport's store can charge something different.
- What happened since the last check. Prices and stock move, so confirm with the shop before you buy.
- What you may carry home. Allowances depend on your country, so check with customs and your airline.
Travellers fill part of the first gap. If you saw a different price in a shop, you can report it (you'll need to sign in). We review each report by hand, and accepted ones appear on the product's page, separate from the prices we checked.
